SECURITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT CERTIFICATE COURSES

Quality Security Training Services is a certified provider of required certificate courses for the security industry, as well as of additional training courses for all security and law enforcement personnel.

CERTIFICATE COURSES - BRITISH COLUMBIA

OBTAINING CERTIFICATES (Applies to certificate courses administered by the Justice Institute of British Columbia)

A Certificate of Completion will be automatically produced at the conclusion of the exam for students who receive a passing mark of 60% or higher.

  • Students can log in to their www.myJIBC.ca Portal to print their certificate themselves for up to 30-days following the exam.
  • Anyone requesting a certificate beyond 30 days after the exam date must complete and submit the Certificate Replacement Form to securitytraining@jibc.ca, which will incur a fee of $35.00, plus GST.

Basic Security Training Certification Course (B.S.T.)

  • Introductory certification for individuals employed in the security industry, in accordance with the Security Services Act of British Columbia.
  • Ensure your building is safe from unexpected areas that are not safe for you or your family or, in commercial sites for your employees.

Please note that the BST course is a prerequisite for any more advanced level courses, such as the AST (Advanced Security Training) level course.


A.S.T. (Advanced Security Training)

  • Training in use of force and handcuffing in accordance with the Security Services Act of British Columbia.
  • 24 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on practice

Please note that a valid B.S.T. certificate is a prerequisite for this course.


PPCT (Pressure Points Control Techniques)

This is a 3-year certification course available to law enforcement and anyone from any workplace where such certification is honoured.

  • 40-hour course on teaching you to be safe from violence at work and apprehend potentially violent customers
  • Classroom and hands-on practice.

Knife Attack Training

A.C.E. Techniques to help you defend against attacks against a knife, or even a needle.

  • Avoid – learn how to move away or to intercept the path of the knife or needle.
  • Control – control the arm.
  • Eliminate – eliminate the threat.

This course is open to Police, Fire, Ambulance, Security and the general public.


Groundfighting Techniques

  • Teaches you how to defend against multiple attackers.
  • Classroom and hands on practice.
  • Open to Police, Fire, Ambulance, Security and general public.

CERTIFICATE COURSES - ALBERTA

Quality Security Training is certified with the Province of Alberta and can offer the Certification Courses in any location within that Province. We are always happy to arrange a course if there is enough interest, in any location of your choice. Please contact us for further information.


Alberta Basic Security Training Certification Course (A.B.S.T.)

  • Introductory certification for individuals employed in the security industry, in accordance with the Security Services Act of Alberta.
  • Ensure your building is safe from unexpected areas that are not safe for you or your family or, in commercial sites for your employees.
  • 40 hours of classroom instruction.

Please note that the ABST course is a prerequisite for any more advanced level courses.


Alberta Baton Use of Force Training Courses

  • Training in use of force, handcuffing, baton use, firearm retention, both pistols long rifles
  • Both classroom and physical participation required.
  • Written exam and physical exam required.
  • Minimum passing 80% written, 100% on practical exam.

Alberta Professional Security and/or Investigator Training courses

  • Training in how to deal with clients professionally, competently
  • Classroom and field training
